9/4/2023 0 Comments Xyplorer alternative![]() ![]() Having finally gotten fed up, I did a lot of research on line in search of an alternative XYplorer was one of a handful of packages I decided to try.It only took a day or two of testing to decide that XYplorer is so good that I had no need to even try any of the other options I downloaded.īut for some reason, over the years, as the designers of this produce modified and issued new releases of, they’ve screwed it up in a variety of ways: removed some useful features, added some whose purpose seems inscrutable, introduced bugs and irritating reminders that pop up to not purpose, embedded in it mechanisms for upgrades and to ensure that it’s used on only one machine-mechanisms that malfunction more often than they should (that is, more often than never). Editors note: This is a review of the trial version of XYplorer 15.00.Īlmost every time I use it, I discover new features that are useful, features I didn't even know it has. For example, you can create a filter that shows all files with the time they were last edited. It has already earned back its (extremely modest cost) many times over. We also find a mature amount of filter options (‘visual filters’), with which you can further adjust the file management to your liking. Think of renaming a set of files in one go or automatically moving files to another location. For the more advanced user there is support for scripting, where you can automate frequently used tasks. The environment offers a dark mode and also has a touchscreen mode, where the screen elements are magnified. You can improve this by grouping tabs and saving this selection, so that you can always retrieve it at a later time. The approach provides a complete overview, but it comes across as slightly more complex than the streamlined one Explorer. The tabs not only open each for its own folder, but also for searches. This way you can open each folder in a separate tab and still work from one window. The program, of which a 30-day trial is available, offers more options than the built-in Explorer and is available for several Windows versions (including Windows 7 and Windows 10). ![]()
